UK prices and specs revealed for new Volkswagen Polo

Volkswagen’s sixth-generation Polo is now available to order, priced from £13,855.

VW Polo R-Line

Longer and wider, the Polo offers more interior space.

Unveiled in Berlin earlier this year, the latest iteration of the Polo is underpinned by a new platform, making it longer and wider, giving rise to improved interior space and a 25% increase in boot capacity, from 280 litres to 351 litres, compared to the previous generation.

Only offered as a five-door hatchback, the new Polo covers seven trim levels, with entry-level equipment including air con, eight-inch media infotainment with DAB, Front Assist with pedestrian monitoring and City Emergency Braking and automatic headlamp activation with LED daytime running lights.

Petrol engines comprise two versions of the 1.0 MPI with 65 or 75bhp, the 1.0 TSI with 94 or 113bhp, then the new 1.5 TSI EVO with 148bhp and the ability to deactivate cylinders at low loads, and the most powerful GTI yet, producing 197bhp from a 2.0-litre TSI engine. Diesel options cover the 1.6 TDI with either 79 or 94bhp, both with Selective Catalytic Reduction. MPI petrols and the 79bhp diesel are the only versions not offered with DSG.For more of the latest industry news, click here.
