Priced from £74,995 and on sale from July, the fifth-generation model arrives more than 70 years after the original Land Cruiser and 15 years after the last version launched.

It’s built on Toyota’s body-on-frame GA-F platform, already used for the larger Land Cruiser 300 sold elsewhere around the globe, and designed to significantly improve off-road performance and strength thanks its classic body-on-frame construction, while providing increased comfort for on-road driving. It’s also the first Land Cruiser to adopt electric power steering (EPS).

Two versions will be offered – Invincible and First Edition – priced at £74,995 and £79,995 respectively. Expected to sell out 2024 allocations almost immediately, both come in five-door seven-seat bodystyle and powered by an updated 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine with a new eight-speed automatic. A 48V mild hybrid powertrain will debut in the range in 2025.

The limited-run First Edition is priced at £79,995 and features a retro look that pays tribute to the classic Land Cruiser 40 model of the 1960s with round headlights and a bi-tone paintwork that matches Smoky Blue or Light Sand bodywork with a Light Grey roof. It also features First Edition badging and 18-inch black alloy wheels. Inside, styling details of the upholstery, instrument panel and door trims are all exclusive to the model.

Both the First Edition and Invincible have seven seats with black leather upholstery. Equipment includes the Toyota Smart Connect+ multimedia system with 12.3-inch touchscreen and both cloud-based and embedded navigation. A head-up display, fully digital driver’s instrument display, 14-speaker JBL audio system, panoramic view monitor, roof rails and sunroof and air conditioning with separate front and rear cabin controls are also included. The Invincible has 20-inch black alloy wheels.

Under the skin, there’s a Multi Terrain Select system, which automatically adjusts vehicle settings to suit different driving conditions, and the world-first Stabiliser Disconnect Mechanism, which allows the driver to disengage the front anti-roll bar (stabiliser) to help maintain front-wheel contact with the ground on very uneven surfaces.

First deliveries to customers are expected from September this year.
