MG Cyberster all-electric convertible on sale in UK

MG’s highly anticipated Cyberster electric drop-top is now on sale in the UK, priced from £54,995.

Showcased on MG’s stand at last week’s Great British Fleet Event, the performance-focused two-seater EV reboots MG’s roadster heritage for a new era.

It’s available in two variants. The single-motor Cyberster Trophy features a 340hp motor on the rear axle, delivering 475Nm of torque and a 0-62mph sprint of 5.0 seconds.

The £59,995 top-line Cyberster GT is the marque’s new flagship, and the most powerful production model in MG’s 100-year history. Its dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup outputs 503hp and 725Nm of torque, making it able to sprint from 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds.

The 77kWh battery is shared across both models and delivers an official WLTP range of 316 miles for the Trophy and 276 miles for the more performance-focused GT. It’s able to take a rapid DC charge up to 150kW, enabling a charge of 10% to 80% to be delivered in 38 minutes.

Both get scissor doors and a fully electric fabric hood which can be opened or closed in as little as 15 seconds at speeds up to 30mph. They also offer four drive modes – Comfort, Custom, Sport and Track –  and come with the brand’s usual seven-year, 80,000-mile warranty.

The cabin “catapults the grand touring experience into the electric era” and comes with a wraparound three-screen cockpit, with a 10.25-inch driver display flanked by two 7-inch displays. A further colour display mounted in the centre console provides touchscreen access to the dual-zone climate controls. Infotainment features include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, eight-speaker Bose sound system, DAB and voice recognition. A 360-degree parking camera and twin USB ports are also standard.

The interior is also fitted out with six-way electrically adjustable heated seats with memory function and electric lumbar support. The standout heated steering wheel features four-way adjustability as well as twin paddles to adjust the three-mode regenerative braking.

Practical touches include a central armrest with storage, ambient lighting, sunglasses storage, sun visors with integrated mirrors and lights and a 12V power socket. The Cyberster also comes with a 249-litre boot.

A wind deflector positioned between the front seats is designed to reduce buffeting to a minimum.

Interior styling includes metal sports pedals, with the leather-style seats available in grey with white accents or black with red. There are five exterior colour choices, accentuated by the contrasting black lower trim. Including roof fabric and exterior paint colours, there are 32 combinations to choose from.

The Cyberster is equipped with Brembo brakes and 19-inch alloy Lightning-design wheels for Trophy models, while the GT wears a 20-inch Jetstream-design with Pirelli P Zero tyres for optimised performance and control.

The MG Pilot suite of driver assistance features includes lane change and lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, active emergency braking with pedestrian and bicycle detection, traffic jam assist, intelligent speed assist and intelligent headlight control.

First deliveries of the new MG Cyberster start from August.
