Volkswagen launches new R-Line trim for Golf

For a £995 price increase over the GT, the new trim adds rear spoiler, side skirts and radiator grille, bespoke air intakes,
R-Line front bumpers and fog lights, R-Line rear bumper and diffuser, and 17-inch alloy wheels. This is in addition to the GT model’s standard features of Discover Navigation, sports suspension (lowered by approximately 10 mm) and PreCrash preventive occupant protection.

Meanwhile, the interior receives stainless steel pedals and front door sills, black lead grey inlays and door trims, Sports Race design front seats with R-Line logo, black rooflining, leather gear knob and gear lever gaiter and R-Line leather multifunction sports steering wheel.

Two engines are available: one petrol and one diesel.  The petrol option is Volkswagen’s 1.4-litre TSI engine with Active Cylinder Technology, which delivers 148bhp between 4,500 and 6,000rpm. Emissions range from 109 to 112g/km with official combined fuel economy from 58.9mpg to 60.1mpg.

The diesel option is the fleet-popular 148bhp 2.0-litre TDI, with an official figure of 68.9mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions ranging from 106 to 119g/km.

Both engines come with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, with a six-speed DSG also available.

The new Golf R-Line is available to order now ahead of first deliveries in March, with prices starting from £24,190 OTR.
