Credit hire companies urged to embrace telematics

Credit hire companies not adopting telematics will be left behind in a changing fleet landscape.

Telematics and computers

Telematics could bring a wealth of benefits to credit hire fleets, according to Trak Global Group.

That was the message from Nick Street, insurance solutions and claims manager at Trak Global Group, at Credit Hire Organisation (CHO) annual conference this month as he highlighted how telematics could radically enhance service and cut costs among credit hire companies.

Speaking at the event near Coventry on 8 November, Street briefed delegates on how telematics can provide real-time data analysis to improve vehicle utilisation, map driver behaviour – including safer driving, and supports claims management, including fraud detection. The technology can also prove invaluable in the fight against theft as well as terrorism and other offences.

Street said: “CHCs have hundreds or even thousands of vehicles under management, but the challenge is how to improve margins in a highly competitive environment, where the cost of motor claims is rising all the time. We believe telematics can be enormously valuable, and we urge progressive CHCs to contact us to see how this technology can make a significant difference to their bottom line.”
