Road safety charity Brake has announced the winners of its 2023 UK Fleet Champions Awards, which celebrate the hard work and dedication of fleet organisations striving to reduce road deaths and injuries.

Brake’s interim CEO Ross Moorlock said the hard work and dedication of the winners was inspirational

The celebratory awards ceremony took place at Leeds’ New Dock Hall at the Royal Armouries on Tuesday (10 October) and revealed the winners from 60 shortlisted organisations and individuals across 11 different awards categories, as judged by an independent panel of experts from the fleet industry.

Winners included Geotab, Zego and Transport for London while fleet risk managers awarded for their work included Andrew Drewary of Road Safety Smart and Sareen Dhillon from Willmott Dixon Holdings.

The event, which was attended by more than 230 people from across the fleet sector, also saw thousands of pounds raised to support Brake’s National Road Victim Service, via donations, raffle tickets and a silent auction.

The awards were hosted by Brake’s interim CEO Ross Moorlock who reminded attendees of the devastating impact of road crashes on families and urged everyone in the room to come together to achieve the shared goal of ending the daily deaths and injuries on roads.

He said: “Now is the time for action. Road safety should not be used as a political, point-scoring exercise. We must work collaboratively together for safe and sustainable solutions that meet all needs. And we need to work to deliver tangible progress and outcomes.”

“It’s always humbling to see the fleet industry come together with safety at the forefront of their minds. We’re so grateful to everyone that supports these awards and we offer heartfelt congratulations to all the organisations and individuals who won or were shortlisted for an award. Their hard work and dedication are inspirational.”
