Aliaksandr Kuushynau: “Wialon community really shapes the future of telematics and fleet management”

Wialon, one of the leading global telematics, IoT and GPS tracking platforms, has gained a great reputation not only for its fleet management solutions, but also for building a strong partner community. The company’s 20-year experience has proved that true power lies in collaboration. Wialon’s success is intertwined with its technology and channel partners, its global network of service providers, integrators, and value-added resellers.

We met Aliaksandr Kuushynau, Head of Wialon, at the company’s annual Telematics partner conference (see video here) to learn more about the power of the business community. This year, the Telematics conference brought together around 200 experts from 50 countries in Vilnius, Lithuania, where Wialon has its headquarters.

What is the Wialon partner community?

The Wialon community is the largest body of global telematics and IoT experts and counts over 2,500 partner companies, 700 hardware manufacturers, and hundreds of developers of Wialon-based solutions from 150 countries. When you consider that each partner has a team, comprising around 10 dedicated individuals, it forms a substantial and dynamic tribe of passionate professionals actively engaged and working with Wialon.

Together, we have created a vibrant telematics ecosystem that continues to thrive. Our goal is to reach an impressive 3.8 million connected vehicles this year, and we set our sights even higher with a target of 4 million by the year 2024. This notable achievement not only demonstrates our substantial impact in the telematics industry, but also positions us firmly in the top 3 global telematics, IoT and fleet management platforms worldwide, with a global market share of around 4%.

Having partners all over the world, what are your views on the progress and development of telematics service providers?

Wialon hit the global milestone of 3.6 million connected fleet vehicles and assets in June 2023

In 2023, 47% of Wialon partners have shown remarkable growth over the past 12 months, increasing the number of connected vehicles by 10% or more. It’s crucial to recognize that the role of telematics service providers extends far beyond offering a standard “GPS tracking service for 10 euros per month.”

It’s crucial to recognize that the opportunities within the telematics landscape are vast, and the growth potential is substantial. Our success stories range from optimizing the operations of local delivery services to steering the efficiency of massive logistics networks.

In the realm of telematics, a one-size-fits-all approach falls short. To be truly competitive and cater to the requirements of each vertical, it’s imperative to gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience. This is precisely why we invest in fostering a vibrant partner community – a space where ideas flow, experiences are shared, and collaborations thrive.

What trends in the fleet management industry did you focus on at the conference?

Fleet owners, especially large ones, are not merely seeking a telematics provider; they need a strategic partner capable of conceptualizing, implementing, and optimizing projects of considerable magnitude.

A serious challenge persists – a lack of harmonized telematics data. Their data is often scattered across various systems, leaving them struggling with the daunting task of manually consolidating information from various sources. This challenge constrains their ability to obtain holistic insights and operate with the efficiency that Wialon could provide.

What else? The rise of electric vehicles, shared mobility, and the eventual integration of autonomous vehicles, which may seem like a distant future, but is indeed just a question of time.

What is the value of being part of the Wialon community?

The future holds immense possibilities, and as we embrace these changes, Wialon is committed to supporting our partners wherever it’s possible.

True power lies in collaboration. Our success is intertwined with our technology and channel partners and our network of service providers, integrators, and value-added resellers. As we introduce new technologies and features, it’s our partners’ adoption and integration that propels us forward.

Change is inevitable, but with Wialon as the technological foundation of business, navigating this change becomes not just a challenge but an opportunity. Together, we can shape the future of telematics and fleet management, setting new standards and reaching new heights.
