The Turo service, which has over 200,000 users in the UK, enables car and van owners to earn money from their vehicle whilst it’s not in use by renting it out via an app. Initially launched in December 2016 with UK car rental firms, it was expanded in 2018 to cover peer-to-peer car sharing, including fleets.

The partnership with FMG gives guest drivers access to 24/7 driver support, roadside recovery and replacement vehicle services, whilst car owners can benefit from an established repair service with costs, timescales and repair methods scrutinised by FMG’s inhouse automotive engineers.

FMG’s repair options, including same-day mobile repairs, will enable vehicles to get back on the road quickly and earning money for their owners again.

This summer saw a huge spike in demand for car-sharing as drivers opted for individual trips rather than public transport; a trend expected to continue.

Andrew Chandler, sales director at FMG, said: “Car-sharing is rapidly becoming an integral part of modern mobility and we are pleased to demonstrate how every aspect of FMG’s proposition can be tailored to create the perfect solution for a whole new marketplace.”
