Targa Telematics has signed a strategic partnership with Renault, expanding the Targa range of connected car solutions with integrated data from Renault and Dacia vehicles.

Targa can now connect and activate most Renault and Dacia models directly into its platform without the need for separate hardware

As an authorised Renault telematics services provider, Targa can now utilise the “Renault Easy Connect for Fleet”, connecting and activating most Renault passenger car and light commercial vehicle models directly into its platform.

It means Targa customers will now be able to stream vehicle data including location, mileage, fuel consumption, battery and charging data for EVs, along other key information, without the need to install aftermarket hardware.

These services will be available to its customers in France, Italy, UK, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, and the Nordic countries.

Alberto Falcione, vice president sales at Targa Telematics, said: “We are thrilled to have partnered up with Renault as part of our broader strategy of collaborating with major players in the automotive industry, following a series of similar agreements. This enables us to strengthen our position in the field of global data integration, enhance connected mobility solutions, and provide value-added services to our customers.”

It’s the latest deal in Targa’s work to provide fleet managers and drivers with an increasing number of digital services, simplifying the provisioning process in vehicles. By integrating data-streams from each manufacturer’s in-vehicle systems, Targa Telematics aims to develop innovative connected mobility solutions that cater to customers’ needs. The partnership with Renault follows similar agreements with other major players in the automotive industry, including BMW and Mini, Mercedes and Ford.

The company has also reinforced its work with automakers on global data partnerships with the recent appointment of Henning Wiefelspuetz as head of OEM business integration.

Earlier this year, Targa also signed a deal to acquire 100% share capital of Viasat Group Spa, creating a global leader in the Internet of Things and smart mobility.
