Smarter methods of business travel come under focus by Energy Saving Trust

Fleets’ adoption of smarter ways of working is being highlighted by the Energy Saving Trust as part of the Fleet Heroes 2019 Awards.

This year’s Fleet Heroes Awards & Conference will take place on Thursday 28 November at the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square

One of seven accolades to be awarded in this year’s event, the title of Smarter Business Travel Hero will recognise an organisation that is reducing the impact of their business travel and positively influencing the behaviour of their drivers to reduce carbon and nitrogen dioxide emissions.

The award enables those operators who are turning to new ways of running their fleets, from finding alternatives to car usage through to using technology to streamline their operations, to shine a light on how they’re helping to cut UK CO2 emissions while also benefiting their individual company.

This year’s Fleet Heroes Awards – now in their 14th year – also offers a number of other ways for fleets, as well as UK cities/regions and fleet service providers, to spotlight their eco initiatives.

This includes the Electric Vehicle Hero title for the operator that has adopted a significant number of pure electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles as a proportion of their fleet, or has taken an innovative approach to overcome obstacles to allow the adoption of electric vehicles.

Towns, cities and regions also have a chance to showcase their work through the Future Cities Hero award, which will evaluate the parts of the UK that are undertaking ambitious measures to address greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution and improve urban mobility.

However, fleets looking to enter the awards (see full list here) are being advised to get their entries in pronto – the deadline for applications is 30 September 2019.

Operators can also learn about the latest fleet and transport industry eco developments at the accompanying Fleet Heroes Conference. Taking place prior to the awards on 28 November at the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, the event will bring together transport experts, prominent businesses and government representatives, and includes a mix of informative presentations and lively discussions – confirmed items on the agenda include sessions on the electrification of cities and fleets.

As with the awards, the conference is free to attend – with bookings open now.

Visit the Fleet Heroes website to apply for the awards and book your free conference and awards places.
