The project was SM UK’s most complex and customised yet and demonstrated its turnkey credentials, while helping Zenith support its nationwide services using bespoke mobile workshops.

Both designs use standard Ford Transit vans, which have been adapted for the repair and maintenance of LCVs and HGVs respectively to meet Zenith’s comprehensive brief.

The first conversion was rolled out to eight vehicles, built to support HGV drivers, while the second, designed to support the LCV market, was used in 12 vehicles.

Both versions are kitted out with everything needed to facilitate the mobile servicing and repair of Zenith’s UK-based fleet. This includes lighting, power outlets, cameras, industrial flooring, storage racking and a selection of essential vehicle repair equipment, including an arc welder and onboard power.

As well as essential storage and dedicated work areas, the conversions included a roof-mounted solar panel, a powerful air compressor, an inverter welder and essential health and safety equipment.

SM UK said the complex, fully customised van conversion solutions provided the latest example of its ability to deliver turnkey projects according to the specific requirements of its clients.

Tom Fenton, company spokesperson and van conversions divisional manager, added that  the work completed for Zenith showcases the van conversion specialist’s full range of technical and logistical expertise.

“Zenith leases commercial fleet vehicles across the UK. They needed a highly customised and complex set-up that would give them the ability to service and repair vehicles quickly and efficiently,” he commented.

Martin Jenkins, CEO of Zenith’s Commercial division, added: “Our customers rely on our mobile maintenance units every day, so it’s imperative our engineers have the best equipment available so they can ensure vehicles are repaired and back on the road as quick as possible.

“We discussed every aspect of design with SM UK, and nothing was left to chance. Everything from workplace ergonomics to product performance was part of the process, and we weren’t disappointed. The vehicles are the best on the market, and we’re excited to have them as part of our mobile maintenance unit.”

SM UK’s Tom Fenton added that the collaboration with Zenith was the latest example of the auto electrical installation firm’s commitment to delivering bespoke van conversion solutions at speed.

“Zenith provides everything from executive cars to HGVs, so this project was complex and highly challenging. But we applied years of experience and the expertise of our dedicated experts to create a turnkey solution. We delivered vehicles equipped to support the safe and effective use of the firm’s highly technical tool kit.

“If anyone wants evidence of our ability to deliver superior van conversions according to highly specialised requirements, the Zenith van tells the story perfectly.”
