Fleet managers can “Ask Brake” for advice completely free of charge, thanks to sponsorship from fleet management and incident prevention company FMG. Answers will be anonymised and published on the charity’s website to facilitate the wider sharing of best practice.  Brake currently works with more than 1,500 fleet professionals from across the world, and will draw on its considerable experience within the fleet arena when formulating responses, helping fleet managers to pro-actively manage their road risk effectively.

Roz Cumming, Development manager at Brake, said: ‘Managing your organisation’s road risk is a fundamental part of being a responsible and ethical business, ensuring staff have the greatest chance of staying safe on the roads.  “Ask Brake” will provide another channel through which Brake can support fleet managers and health and safety professionals, utilising the charity’s considerable experience to share best practice and help to reduce the number of devastating crashes which take place involving at-work drivers.’

Paul Holmes, Strategic Account director for Risk at FMG, said: ‘FMG specialises in fleet management and incident prevention, so we’re perfectly placed to work alongside Brake on this initiative. Driving safely matters to a business on so many levels, not least to ensure the welfare of employees and other road users. Safer driving can also assist in reducing the cost of any fleet operation and given the current economic climate this is a major consideration for many businesses today. Under the “Ask Brake” service, we’ll use our extensive knowledge of business driving and fleet management to support Brake and promote the road safety message.’
