Peter McDonald appointed Nissan fleet director

Peter McDonald has been confirmed as the new fleet director of Nissan three months after he resigned as head of fleet at SEAT.

Peter McDonald, fleet director at Nissan

McDonald replaces Iker Lazzari, who returned to Volkswagen Financial Services in August 2019 after 2.5 years in the Nissan fleet role, and will help drive the Japanese brand’s ongoing focus on electric vehicles; it claims to have the most experience of EV product and infrastructure across passenger car and light commercial vehicle fleets.

McDonald said: “Corporate fleets are currently managing the complexity that comes from the inevitable transition to electric vehicles and are looking for trusted and experienced partners that can provide support and advice.

“I’m really excited to be joining the brand that has the most experience in selling electric vehicles to fleets in the UK, and looking forward to working with the Nissan leadership team, dealer network and supplier base to simplify this complexity and accelerate this change for customers.”

He brings nearly 20 years’ experience at the Volkswagen Group, including almost six years in the SEAT head of fleet role and more than four years as head of planning at SEAT in the UK.

During his time at the SEAT fleet helm, McDonald has helped turn the carmaker into top 10 ‘true fleet’ brand and the winner of the coveted Fleet Manufacturer of the Year title in this year’s inaugural Great British Fleet Event awards, alongside the GBFE Best Fleet Supermini accolade for the Ibiza.
