Mercedes-Benz partners with Chargemaster for home charging solution

Mercedes-Benz UK and Chargemaster have teamed up to offer customers a home charging solution for their Mercedes or smart electric plug-in vehicle.

Drivers will have the choice of installing either a tethered or non-tethered, 3.6kW or 7kW Chargemaster Homecharge unit at their home, with Chargemaster’s engineers aiming to complete nationwide trouble-free installations within two weeks of an order being placed.

Prices start from £279 for the 3.6kW Homecharge unit and £354 for the 7.0 kW version, which charges three times faster than a normal 13A socket. This includes £500 of OLEV funding which Chargemaster applies for on their behalf (with the exception of the GLE 500 e). All units are covered by a three-year warranty.

Customers signing up also receive six months’ free access to Chargemaster’s ‘Polar Network’, which has over 5,000 locations nationwide.

Mercedes-Benz currently offers four electric hybrid models in the UK: the C 350 e, E 350 e, GLE 500 e and S 500 e, as well as the all-electric B 250 e, with fully electric versions of the latest smart fortwo, fortwo cabriolet and forfour models to join the line-up next year.

In September the carmaker announced it is to launch an entire family of electric vehicles under an EQ sub-brand, previewed by a ‘close to production’ SUV-coupe concept at the Paris Motor Show.
