Lex helps Velux switch from ownership to leasing

Velux has switched its UK fleet from ownership to contract hire with the help of Lex Autolease.

The manufacturer of roof windows, sun tunnels and roof window blinds runs a mixed fleet of cars and vans, used by its sales team and technicians for customer fittings and repairs.

Lex Autolease and Velux have been working together since 2019 to develop a contract hire solution with a full service and maintenance package, underpinned by a whole-life cost policy.

Christopher Hoey, business development manager at Lex Autolease, said: “By really getting to know the Velux team and how the business operates, we were able to recommend and develop a solution with the right vehicle for the right job, while showing them the benefits of contract hire by looking at the whole-life cost and the positive impact it can have on cash flow and the tax benefits.”

Following site visits prior to Covid-19, Lex Autolease completed the implementation of the policy during lockdown so that the new vehicles would be on the roads and ready to go once restrictions eased.

Lorraine Kane, finance director at Velux, commented: “Even though nobody could have foreseen what 2020 would bring, we were so grateful to have Lex Autolease as a supportive partner during lockdown. In the long-term, and in line with the Velux Sustainability Strategy 2030, we plan to continue introducing hybrid and electric vehicles to our fleet and we’re confident we have the best support in place to make that transition seamlessly.”
