Jaguar E-Pace update brings plug-in hybrid version

Jaguar has updated the E-Pace with new connectivity features, updated design and latest powertrains, including the range’s first plug-in hybrid.

The new Jaguar E-Pace, including the 309hp PHEV, is available to order now

Priced from £32,575 in the UK, the E-Pace compact SUV is the latest Jaguar model to be updated, alongside revisions to the XE, XF and F-Pace and, as with the latter, includes a petrol PHEV to target both fleets and private drivers.

In the E-Pace’s case, this brings a new P300e PHEV powertrain, already seen in models such as the Land Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport and combining a 200hp 1.5-litre three-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine and a 109hp motor on the rear axle. This provides fuel economy up to 141mpg, with combined CO2 emissions of 44g/km and an electric-only range of up to 34 miles, giving a Benefit-in-Kind rating of 10%. The P300e PHEV can also be charged from 0-80% in 30 minutes, using 32kW or greater DC public charging.

The line-up now also includes the brand’s latest four-cylinder diesel and petrol Ingenium engines, which feature 48V mild hybrid technology.

The 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol is available in three power outputs – 200hp, 240hp and 300hp – and all including mild hybrid tech. The 300 Sport is the range-topper and features Active Driveline AWD and Adaptive Dynamics as standard, and can reach 0-60mph in 6.6 secs.

Diesels include the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo mild hybrid with either 163 or 204hp (and 167g/km or 169g/km), and a conventional four-cylinder diesel, again with 163hp and with CO2 of 158g/km. All bar the latter come with Jaguar’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system. The mild hybrids get nine-speed automatic transmissions, the PHEV gets an eight-speed auto and the standard diesel comes with a six-speed manual.

Alongside the new powertrains, another major update is the addition of the new Pivi Pro infotainment, provided as standard and accessed via a new 11.4-inch HD curved-glass touchscreen, providing control of vehicle systems with simplified menus and enhanced connectivity, including over-the-air updates. Complementing it is the latest 12.3-inch HD Interactive Driver Display with enhanced graphics and a configurable layout which can show full screen navigation mapping.

The interior has also been redesigned with an increased focus on the driver and increased luxury and comfort features, including a new I-Pace inspired steering wheel with hidden-until-lit switches and metal gearshift paddles.

Exterior updates include a new grille design and all-LED headlights.

Customers can choose from S, SE and HSE trim levels and all are available in R-Dynamic specification, while the 300 Sport model is also new.

Further technology updates include Cabin Air Ionisation, which improves interior air quality through Nanoe technology and features PM2.5 filtration. Jaguar’s second-generation wearable Activity Key can be used to lock, unlock and start the vehicle without the need for the conventional key fob.

The new E-Pace also features Jaguar’s ClearSight Interior Rear View Mirror technology for the first time, which brings improved convenience by ensuring the driver has an unobstructed view of the road behind, while the latest 3D Surround Camera technology delivers advanced functionality when manoeuvring. And Jaguar’s Driver Condition Monitor technology is able to detect if the driver is beginning to feel drowsy and alert them to take a break.
