Updated Jaguar F-Pace gains 49g/km plug-in hybrid
Jaguar’s updated F-Pace is now available to order, introducing a new plug-in hybrid alongside mild-hybrid petrols and diesels and latest connectivity features.
Priced from £56,060, the new P400e PHEV powertrain combines a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol along with a 143hp electric motor, giving CO2 emissions from 49g/km and fuel economy of up to 130.2mpg as well as a 0-60mph time of 5.0 seconds. It also offers a 33-mile all-electric range – enough to cover the daily commute for most customers according to the brand – and three driving modes.
The motor is powered by a 17.1kWh lithium-ion battery that can be charged from 0-80% in 30 minutes using 32kW DC fast charging while a domestic 7kW wall box can provide a charge of 0-80% in one hour 40 minutes.
The updated F-Pace also sees mild hybrid (MHEV) tech provided on selected engines for the first time. Teaming up a belt-integrated starter generator with a separate 48V lithium-ion battery, it’s included on four of the five diesel and petrol engines in the new line-up, all of which have an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive plus Intelligent Driveline Dynamics to provide rear-wheel drive biased performance.
MHEV diesels include 163hp and 204hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbos and a 300hp 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo, the latter providing official fuel economy up to 38.1mpg with CO2 emissions from 194g/km. The sole MHEV petrol is a 400hp 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo. The line-up also includes a 250hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol without mild hybrid technology.
To support the introduction of the new electrified engines, the chassis has been updated and the new F-Pace also includes the latest JaguarDrive Control, which features Comfort, Eco, Rain-Ice-Snow and Dynamic modes, and a new Auto Vehicle Hold function that only releases the brakes when the driver starts to accelerate, improving performance compared to conventional hill hold.
The updated F-Pace also introduces enhanced exterior design while the interior has been particularly reconfigured, with a focus on increased luxury and integrated technologies. It includes a new cockpit design and centre console as well as features such as Cabin Air Ionisation to improve interior air quality.
Trim line-up covers S, SE and HSE specifications, all offered with R-Dynamic variants. Onboard tech includes an 11.4-inch curved glass HD touchscreen, bringing better functionality as well as size compared to the previous 10-inch touchscreen and used to access the latest Pivi Pro infotainment technology. The F-Pace also features a new 12.3-inch HD Interactive Driver Display, standard fit on SE and HSE trims.
The new infotainment system features Apple CarPlay as standard and allows customers to connect two phones simultaneously via Bluetooth. Android Auto and Baidu CarLife are also available as standard depending on market applicability and the F-Pace also provides over-the-air updates. Optional wireless device charging is also available.
Another first is Active Road Noise Cancellation technology that counters road noise to bring quieter levels within the cabin, while Engine Noise Cancellation helps stop unwanted engine noise.
The technology count includes an updated, second-generation wearable Activity Key, which can be used to lock, unlock and start the vehicle without the need for the conventional key fob to be present.
The new F-Pace range is on sale now, priced from £40,860 for the D165 AWD Auto Core to £64,990 for the P400 AWD Auto R-Dynamic HSE.
