Hyundai Ioniq ups the ante on electric range

Hyundai has enhanced its Ioniq range with a number of enhancements, including new connectivity features plus increased range for the electric version.

The updated Hyundai Ioniq now brings a 182+-mile WLTP range for the full electric model

Launched in 2016, the model comes in three variants – hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full electric – all of which now get updated interior and exterior design as well as Blue Link connectivity services, new infotainment services and SmartSense active safety and driving assistance systems – including Front Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection with new Cyclist Detection ability and Driver Attention Warning.

The new Ioniq also introduces eCall and features Live Services when customers include satellite navigation.

The changes also see the Ioniq Electric gain an upgraded 38.3kWh battery – up from 28kWh and increasing range from 155 miles to more than 182 miles (WLTP) – while the 136hp motor is now fitted as standard with a 7.2kW on-board charger – an upgrade from the current 6.6kW – for Type 2 AC charging. Using a 100kW fast-charging station, the battery can reach 80% charge in as little as 54 minutes.
