Hyundai Genesis saloon to go on sale priced from £47,995 OTR

Only limited numbers will be available of the new Genesis, with the brand saying it offers ‘offers a unique opportunity to own the most refined and technologically advanced Hyundai ever made available in Europe’.

Available in the UK in a single high-specification form, the Genesis is focused on bringing innovative technology, luxurious comfort and premium style along with advanced safety and convenience features.

The Genesis is nearly five metres long and has a three-metre wheelbase, making it similar in size to both the Audi A8 and new Mercedes S-Class, with minimal overhangs.

Styling uses Fluidic Sculpture 2.0, the second-generation of the company’s design signature, with key design elements include a striking hexagonal front grille and jewelled, full-LED tail lamps.

The brand also promises the finest materials for the cabin along with plentiful space and first-class seating finished in fine grain leather.

Just one engine has been announced – a 3.8-litre V6 GDI engine in rear-wheel drive form and married up with an eight-speed automatic transmission. No fuel economy or emission figures have been announced.

Technologies include an advanced driver infotainment system that displays detailed vehicle information on an 8-inch touch screen.

The Genesis also brings advanced safety features with Smart Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking and the world’s first CO2 cabin sensor, which monitors the quality of the cabin environment and helps protect the driver from the dangers of drowsiness.

Also included is a Rear Cross Traffic Alert system, which uses four cameras to provide a 360-degree view of the vehicle, enabling the system to warn drivers of approaching hazards when reversing from a parking space. Blind Spot Detection monitors traffic around the car while on the road and warns of approaching hazards. A head-up display and Bi-Xenon headlights equipped with automatic high-beam assist function are also featured.

The Genesis also comes with standard convenience features including the Smart Boot System, which automatically opens the boot if the smart key is detected within close proximity for longer than three seconds. And “Puddle” lights, which feature the Genesis logo, illuminate the area around the doors, which are equipped with an automatic-closing mechanism.

The model will be sold in seven dealers with bespoke Genesis retail display areas, covering areas from London and Bristol to Belfast, Coventry, Nottingham, Stockport and Edinburgh.
