Fleet World Fleet: Volvo XC60 D4 R-Design
It is a case of new year, new Volvo for Fleet World as in early December I took delivery of Volvo’s most popular model, an XC60 in D4 R-Design, fleet-friendly, two-wheel drive form.

Our long-term test XC60
R-Design trim is comprehensive, but because I had the chance to spec this car, we have a significant amount of options to try, which I’ll give you my opinion on over the next six months.
Current favourites are the Winter Pack, which for £525 heats the seats, screen, wiper blades and includes a welcome headlight cleaning system. The heated seats and steering wheel are particularly useful for warming up on the coldest January mornings.
The other is the pricey £2,000 Xenium Pack, but I admit, I really miss the 360-degree parking camera, when driving other cars.
Elsewhere a personal indulgence, the punchy Harmon Kardon sound system (£850), enriches the drive and helps to shrink journey times.
A trip to Waylands Volvo in Reading for a forthcoming aftersales feature confirmed all is well mechanically after 2,000 miles. They also kindly set up the ‘Volvo On Call’ app. I can now programme the climate control and warm this car via my phone from the comfort of my house – nice! This XC60 also got a well-deserved wash, as I’d forgotten what Osmium Grey looked like when clean.
Niggles? Just the fact it will have to go back to Volvo, after a careless Christmas parker inflicted damage to the bumper!
