Fleet Supplier of the Week: Sofico

Sofico has been named as Fleet World’s Supplier of the Week for its work on a new car sharing app.

Sofico’s new car sharing app is part of the software firm’s product development road map and forms part of the move from car ownership to car usership and multi-modal mobility solutions

The new solution is available to all of Sofico’s customer base and shows users which car sharing vehicles are available and can be used to start and end each booking, as well as opening the car to access the keys.

It also pinpoints the location and the battery level of the vehicle and allows photos of the vehicle’s condition to be relayed to the provider.

Users can even communicate directly with each other about the vehicle or handover via in-app chat.

The new solution is part of the software firm’s product development road map and forms part of the move from car ownership to car usership and multi-modal mobility solutions.

It launches as many carmakers reinvent themselves as mobility service providers to provide on-demand vehicle access, while fleets and leasing operators increasingly start to offer short and ultra-short-term rental and car-sharing services.

Sofico chief technical officer Piet Maes said: “This new app fulfils a strategic need for us and allows us to offer the car-sharing and mobility functionality to our customers – either as a complement to our Miles software platform or as a stand-alone solution.”

“We see our car sharing app as a key tool in the box towards managed mobility, as the dynamic for usage and ownership trends shift across the fleet market,” he added.
