FCA Group to launch fleet telematics system

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is launching a telematics service for fleets next month, utilising the on-board data connection fitted to its latest models.

Mopar Connect Fleet utilises an updated on-board data connection fitted to FCA’s latest vehicles.

Mopar Connect Fleet builds on the consumer-focused system launched earlier this year, which enables remote status, location and security checking via the group’s Uconnect Live smartphone app.

The service will launch in October as part of updates to the Jeep Cherokee and Renegade, and Fiat 500X, according to head of fleet and business sales for the EMEA region, Alessandro Grosso.

For fleet managers, Mopar Connect Fleet offers the ability to monitor multiple vehicles at once. It means operators and drivers can remotely check and schedule maintenance, locate and geofence vehicles, optimise routes and see how efficiently they are being driven on any given journey.

FCA is offering its own fleet management service for operators, but Grosso said the raw data can also be integrated with third-party fleet management systems, Grosso said.
