The company has selected the Ctrack Online solution combined with Ctrack cCom in-vehicle consoles as part of its commitment to reducing carbon footprint, enhancing health and safety, and boosting overall fleet performance.

The tracking system is designed to enable Karomed to better manage its nationwide network of engineers – responsible for customer installations, collections and repair – that operate from three regional service centres.

In particular, the company will be able to identify the nearest vehicle to a job, based on the necessary skill set, and despatch the appropriate engineer via the Ctrack cCom console. This will enable Karomed to reduce vehicle mileage, improve response times and provide accurate status updates to customers.

Karomed will also use Ctrack Online to monitor driver behaviour to identify areas of improvement and support the company’s internal environmental and duty of care initiatives. The system’s real-time and historical reporting capability will enable Karomed to identify where speeding, excessive braking, harsh acceleration and heavy cornering is occurring within the fleet operation, and work with field-based engineers to encourage responsible driving in terms of safety and fuel efficiency.

Steve Buckland, managing director of Karomed, commented: 'We are committed to operating a business that is safe, responsible and efficient. We have selected the Ctrack solution to replace an existing tracking system due to its ability to boost fleet performance, reduce accidents and minimise environmental impact. By improving asset utilisation and efficiency we are targeting a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 15%.'
