Copart UK plans for major expansion in Bedfordshire

Copart UK is undertaking a 27-acre expansion of its Sandy operation site in Bedfordshire – doubling the annual storage capacity to 80,000 vehicles.

Copart’s expansion of its operations site in Bedfordshire is part of the company’s continuing rapid UK growth programme, which will boost its overall vehicle capacity by 10%

The online vehicle remarketing and recycling firm will increase the size of the site to just under 60 acres; part of the company’s continuing rapid UK growth programme, which will boost its overall vehicle capacity by 10% to meet growing customer demand.

It follows recent announcements about expansions in Bristol, Wisbech and York, as well as plans for a new 31-acre site in East Kilbride, which will double the company’s operational capabilities in Scotland.

The expanded Sandy site is expected to be operational by December 2021 and will provide vehicle storage and services for customers in Bedfordshire and across the south east. Earlier this year, the firm opened its new Customer Excellence Centre in Franklin Court, Bedford.

Copart UK and Ireland managing director Jane Pocock said: “These expansion plans for our Sandy Operation Centre will further strengthen our presence and operational capabilities in Bedfordshire and will provide more future employment opportunities in this area.

“Despite the challenges of the past year, it has been and continues to be an exciting period of growth and reinvestment for Copart.”
