Audi unveils new A3 and e-tron S concept
Audi’s latest-generation A3 builds on its predecessor with a fresh, more aggressive design and a “seamlessly connected” interior interface.
The new A3 is built on the Volkswagen MQB platform, as used by the new Volkswagen Golf, SEAT Leon and Škoda Octavia. Initially, the A3 will be offered with three engines – a 1.5 TFSI with 150hp (combined fuel consumption 46-49mpg; combined CO2 emissions of 116-111g/km) and a 2.0 TDI that delivers 116hp (combined fuel consumption 65-67mpg; combined CO2 emissions 96-92g/km) or 150hp (combined fuel consumption in 60-63.5mpg; combined CO2 emissions 103-98g/km).
The car will additionally be offered with a pair of plug-in hybrids at different power levels and a sports S3 will also follow later in the year. Using the latest Car-to-X connectivity, the new A3 is also fully connected from factory, which will aid seeking live parking spaces, for example.
Audi also showed off the e-tron S and S Sportback Prototypes – a sports variant of the full-electric e-tron SUV. The vehicles use a trio of electric motors and clever software to keep the car stable under power.
