UK deliveries will begin in March and, despite indicating that it would stop offering the diesel BlueMotion in the UK, Volkswagen will offer both models to British customers.

Mirroring the Golf BlueMotion, the Polo BlueMotion is based on the entry-level S trim, adding an aerodynamic bodykit, 15-inch wheels with low rolling resistance tyres, a higher grade infotainment system with Driver Alert, and the Think Blue efficiency training software.

However, neither of the BlueMotion’s engines are normally offered on the Polo S. The petrol version gets a 94bhp 1.0-litre TSI engine, returning 68.9mpg and emitting 94g/km CO2, while the diesel gets a new 1.4-litre TDI, returning 91.1mpg and emitting 82g/km CO2.

Prices for the three-door models start at £14,730 for the petrol, and £15,795 for the diesel, while the five-door models start at £15,360 and £16,425 respectively.
