The Clio might look like the last model, but has been completely redesigned inside and out, offering more space and refinement than before with the benefit of the latest driving assistance infotainment systems.

Prices start at £14,295, for the Clio in Play specification. There are three new engines available in the new Clio from launch: two petrol and one diesel. The TCe 100 petrol engine boasts power and torque figures of 100hp and 160Nm respectively and is mated with a five-speed manual, or seven-speed auto, the latter available from November.

Next up is the TCe 130, which has already seen use in the Kadjar, Mégane and Scénic. This engine is exclusively available with the seven-speed EDC dual-clutch transmission.

Last of the new engines, is the Blue dCi 85 diesel, which is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and promises to return 78.5mpg, plus a muscular 220Nm of torque at a relaxed 1,750rpm.

Also available to order from October will be the entry-level, three-cylinder naturally aspirated SCe 75 with 72hp and 95Nm respectively. It is mated with five-speed manual transmission.

Looking forward, from mid-2020, a new-generation Hybrid powertrain will be available in the Clio for the first time. Developed and patented by Renault engineering, it combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine that’s mated to an innovative multi-mode gearbox and a pair of electric motors that are powered by a 1.2kWh lithium-ion battery.

New Clio follows Renault’s EasyLife model strategy, which means it’s available in popular Play and Iconic trim levels, as well as new S Edition and R.S. Line versions.

Play models include full LED headlamps, air-conditioning, cruise control and speed limiter, a DAB radio, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with lane departure warning, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking and traffic sign recognition, electric front windows, driver’s seat height adjustment and a two-inch multimedia screen including Bluetooth, DAB and a USB connection.

Iconic trim adds a 7-inch multimedia screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mirroring, plus sat nav, remote access, rear parking sensors, 16-inch diamond cut alloys, LED front fog lamps and dark tinted rear windows.

S Edition trim includes a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster and 9.3-inch screen, electric rear windows, climate control, automatic wipers and headlamps and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Range-topping R.S Line takes its styling cues from Renault Sport models, 17-inch alloy wheels, Multi Sense driver modes, a rear-view camera and front parking sensors.
