The firm’s newly released Report on Company Motoring also found that one in five (19%) plan to upgrade their car policies in the next two years to help secure, retain and motivate their best employees.

Tim Porter, managing director of Lex Autolease, said: ‘Our research also shows the attractiveness of a company car to employees and potential new employees. It also suggests that organisations may need to review their benefits package to ensure they can secure prized talent in an increasingly competitive employment market.’

When the report surveyed 505 employees who are in possession of a company car, six out of ten (62%) company car drivers also claimed the offer of a company car would be an important consideration in any future decisions they make regarding job offers.

Companies have responded to this demand for choice and less than one in ten companies now adopt a “take it or leave it” approach to choice of company cars.

The report found that reliability, fuel efficiency and safety are top considerations when choosing a company car.
