Toyota makes hybrid available across Rav4 line-up

Announced as the compact SUV gets a new structure – Icon, Icon Tech, Design and Excel – in line with other core Toyota models, the move sees the 2.5-litre hybrid powertrain offered in all grades with front-wheel drive and in Design and Excel trims with all-wheel drive, and comes as Toyota says the powertrain accounts for two-thirds of UK sales of the RAV4.

The carmaker also announced last week at the Frankfurt Motor Show that it’s planning to offer more powerful hybrid options across its core model line-up, with the current set-up to become focused on efficiency and fuel economy, while a new offering would build on this with more power and dynamic driving, with further details to be announced next year.

Other changes for the 2018 RAV4 include revised equipment specifications, option packs and additional colour choices.

The updated Rav4 goes on sale from 1 October with OTR prices from £27,450.
