The scheme offers members access to a range of low-carbon BMW and VW cars and vans on a pay-as-you-go basis, for anything from 30 minutes to months at a time. Members book a car online or over the phone, as little as 30 minutes ahead of time, and use smartcards to unlock the vehicle. And they can locate, book and even open a car with their phone thanks to Streetcar's iPhone app.

Under the partnership, Streetcar is offering Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor guests a free two-week trial membership – the scheme is able to sign up new members over the phone and offer instant access to its vehicles.

As well as Glasgow, the scheme currently boasts over 1400 locations across nine other cities; London, Brighton, Cambridge, Southampton, Guildford, Maidstone, Oxford, Bristol and Edinburgh.
