Škoda revamps Scala and Kamiq with new design and tech

Škoda has given its Scala family hatch and Kamiq crossover a mid-life revamp, introducing latest technologies and updated design.

A key change is the arrival of further assistance systems depending on the market, many normally seen in higher vehicle categories and supporting Škoda’s contribution to the international Vision Zero initiative.

Design changes see both models gain an updated Škoda grille, headlights and front and rear aprons, and now come with Škoda’s TOP LED matrix headlights as an option, while gaining an increased proportion of recycled and natural materials for the exterior and interior.

The visual update gives a more dynamic look to the Scala, evoking the Vision RS concept study while the Kamiq gets more rugged SUV appeal. The duo also get a choice of new wheels and paint finish colours.

Trim levels are being revamped and will comprise three grades with six interior variants along with optional equipment packages. A digital display with an 8-inch screen diagonal and an 8.25-inch Škoda Infotainment display are already standard in all models and a 10.25in digital cockpit is an optional extra. Four USB-C ports are available for charging mobile devices. Both models also gain new Simply Clever details, including features such as the Virtual Pedal for the optional electric tailgate.

The Scala and Kamiq are based on the same MQB-A0 platform and available with a range of TSI petrol engines, with power outputs ranging from 95hp to 150hp.

It’s the first facelift for the Scala, which launched in 2019 and has since sold nearly 230,000 units to customers in 57 markets worldwide. The Kamiq launched shortly after and was the best-selling Škoda SUV in both 2021 and 2022, ahead of its Kodiaq and Karoq big brothers.

Prices and launch dates are yet to be announced.
