The competition is being organised by ALD Automotive and Toyota & Lexus Fleet Services, in association with Fleet World magazine.

Company car drivers and fleet managers who think they have the skills needed to show that they are the best need to go online to register their interest before January 31. Successful applicants will be asked to complete a simple Fleet Driver Risk Index (FDRI) – an online questionnaire identifying personality traits which might indicate a good… or not so good driver.

After the FDRI the leading contenders will have their driving style monitored over a control period, with the top 10 being invited to compete in the final which takes place at the Fleet World Fleet Show at Silverstone on Wednesday 24^th April 2013.

Driver assessments will be conducted out by a team of professionals from Peak Performance and the final will be carried out in the new Toyota Auris Hybrid, supplied by Toyota & Lexus Fleet Services.

The competition is open to any fleet manager or company car driver in the UK, including those with cars sourced through salary sacrifice or employee car ownership schemes.

David Yates, marketing director for ALD Automotive, said: 'ALD Automotive has a long history of involvement in helping to make fleets safer. This new initiative, which will see the winner crowned at the Fleet World Fleet Show in April, will be great fun for those involved, but will also carry the message that fleet driver safety is a serious issue and not something to pay lip service to.'

It will be one of the highlights of a show that already promises to be one of the major fleet events of the year.'
