Renault Clio returns in pure petrol form to cut motoring prices

The Renault Clio is now available again in pure petrol form, bringing a cheaper entry point to the line-up at just £17,795.

The returning Clio TCe 90 is priced £3,500 cheaper than the E-Tech full hybrid

It’s priced £3,500 cheaper than the E-Tech full hybrid powertrain – while providing drivers with an efficient three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine capable of returning up to 54.3mpg.

One of the brand’s best-sellers, the Clio supermini went hybrid-only earlier this year in a major facelift, dropping the previous TCe 90 1.0-litre petrol engine and leaving just the E-Tech full hybrid powertrain, priced at £21,295.

The U-turn, which follows the Government’s delay to the 2030 ICE ban, see the return of the Clio TCe 90, which is priced at up to £1,300 less than the outgoing Clio equivalent model.

As with the E-Tech hybrid, it’s offered in three trims: Evolution; Techno, starting from £19,195; and the top-rung Esprit Alpine from £20,595. The facelifted Clio is the second car in the Renault line-up to receive the Esprit Alpine trim, following the Austral.

Key changes for the facelifted Clio also include a completely redesigned front-end with a larger, chequered grille and new signature lighting, planned to reach all Renault vehicles in future.

Cap HPI has calculated that the new Clio TCe 90 will retain up to 58% of its value after three years/30,000 miles, a significant uplift over its predecessor, due to its enhanced quality and specification.

Renault has also launched new personal contract hire offers across all models in its line-up, available now until 3 January 2024.
