Patons targets private hire and chauffeur firms with integrated insurance and 3G vehicle camera solution

Bringing dedicated risk management and driver behaviour monitoring, the solution will help operators to better manage costs, protect drivers and improve road safety, according to Patons, which provides taxi, motortrade and fleet insurance services.

The integrated solution employs an IT1000 3G vehicle camera, said to have been proven to lower accident frequency by up to 45% and reduce claims cost by more than 25% as a result of instant intervention.

In addition, Patons Insurance’s dedicated risk management team will work with customers to identify and address potential safety issues. The consultancy service will monitor driver behaviour, using data and video footage captured by the vehicle camera, to highlight areas of risk and pinpoint underperforming employees that could benefit from some form of training or engagement. This will include monthly reports with an overview of driver performance to provide added insight and an understanding of any ongoing operational trends.

Billy Paton, chief executive of Patons, commented: “By taking our integrated approach we believe private hire and chauffeur operators can achieve significant improvements in terms of road safety, insurance costs and Duty of Care. By using our longstanding experience within the sector coupled the latest advances in fleet management, we are able to work closely with our customers to develop a policy that is tailored to their precise needs and achieves measurable benefits.”
