Navigating towards sustainable fleet management with DKV Mobility

DKV Mobility’s on-the-road payment solutions make it easy for fleet managers to manage the costs of fuel, EV charging, tolls and vehicle maintenance in the UK and Europe with one monthly invoice. In this article, we’ll explore DKV Mobility’s strategies to help fleet managers transition to a green and sustainable future.

Fleet managers are reluctant to make the transition to a greener fleet. They’re concerned about the interruptions that the current charging infrastructure in the UK can create. They also don’t want to have to deal with multiple payment providers and the administration that goes with it. As leading B2B platform for on-the-road payments, DKV Mobility is well aware of the pain points that fleet managers are facing as they make the transition to a greener fleet, and finding solutions to these challenges is a key area of focus.

Expanding UK’s EV charging infrastructure

Ash Downton, Sales Manager for Fleet & eMobility at DKV Mobility in the UK, outlines the company’s strategy: “We are focusing on two main areas. The first is expanding our EV charge point network in the UK and the second is developing solutions that make it easier for our customers to transition to more sustainable fleets.”

Ash continues: “Without a charging infrastructure that is widely available and reliable, fleet managers are going to be reluctant to make the transition. However, in order to justify further investments, charging infrastructure providers need to see an increase in demand. We’re committed to overcoming this barrier. Via the technical platform of our subsidiary GreenFlux, we’re building strategic roaming partnerships with infrastructure operators and are encouraging an open network model for our customers. To make it easier for our customers to operate fleets of hybrid or electric vehicles, we offer the DKV Card +Charge, a flexible hybrid fuel card solution, that gives access to the largest energy-agnostic acceptance network in Europe, including ~66,000 conventional fuel service stations, ~666,000 public and semi-public EV charge points (as of 02/2024) and ~21,000 alternative fuel service stations.”

Overcoming range anxiety

With ~30,000 charging points now available in the UK, DKV Mobility has successfully tackled the issue of range anxiety. To demonstrate the reliability and accessibility of its charging network, the DKV Mobility team organised an electric car rally. Hybrid payment solutions

“Another concern for fleet managers is the complexity of managing multiple payment solutions for both fuel and EV charging. Instead, they prefer a single payment solution and a single monthly invoice. DKV Mobility is leading the way with the DKV Card +Charge – a ‘hybrid’ card that provides access to an extensive network of ~28,000 charge points in the UK and ~666,000 charge points overall across Europe (as of 02/2024).

“As well as offering one of the largest EV charge point network, DKV Mobility’s solutions allow drivers to pay for fuel, car washes, repairs, tolls, and more. And that’s not just in the UK; we have the largest network in Europe,” says Ash Downton.

A commitment to a greener planet

As a leading B2B platform for payments and solutions in the road transport sector, DKV Mobility can play an important role in making our planet greener. That is why the company launched its Green Pledge in February 2021.

The pledge includes a commitment to help customers reduce the carbon intensity of their fleets by 30% by 2030.

So far, DKV Mobility has already achieved significant milestones. The company’s supply network includes ~66,000 refuelling stations with ~21,000 alternative fuel stations (LNG, CNG, HVO, hydrogen) and access to one of the largest multi-branded electric vehicle charge networks in the UK and Europe.
