Mycardirect teams with Egg for all-in-one EV and charging package

Mycardirect has partnered with Egg to offer an all-inclusive electric vehicle package with the addition of the Egg home charging solution.

Mycardirect is now offering to cover the cost of Egg’s EV home charging subscription with every new EV contract of 12 or more months completed

Founded in 2020 to give a flexible alternative to car leasing and ownership, Mycardirect is now offering to cover the cost of Egg’s EV home charging subscription with every new EV contract of 12 or more months completed.

Part of the Liberty Global Group, Egg launched earlier this year with a home charging subscription service said to offer the smartest charger on the market. The installation cost is covered in the subscription and the all-inclusive maintenance cover includes call-outs within two working days, providing a complete peace-of-mind package.

The solution complements the car subscription scheme offered by Mycardirect, which is part of the AAM Group. Its transparent subscription fee already provides a comprehensive package, with no maintenance, road tax, MOT or replacement tyre worries, enabling customers to budget easily.

The new offer launches just months after the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme closed to homeowners in single-unit properties while the Government also closed the Plug-in Car Grant this month to focus on investing in charging instead.

Mycardirect said its new partnership with Egg is a positive step to help address these possible barriers to EV entry, enabling drivers to benefit from cheaper and more convenient charging at home without facing the potentially prohibitive cost of installing and maintaining a home charging unit.

CEO Duncan Chumley explained: “Our fully flexible subscription service already offers our customers a peace-of-mind proposition when making the switch from petrol or diesel to electric. This is why 28% of our fleet is electric compared to the UK market mix of around 14%.

“The inclusion of Egg’s home EV charging subscription takes another potential barrier out of the equation and, therefore, we anticipate further EV growth within the Mycardirect fleet.”

Gareth Greppellini, B2B director at Egg, also commented, saying: “Mycardirect and Egg share some great synergies, including our shared aim to make driving an EV simple and affordable so drivers will make the switch with confidence. We are delighted to have entered this partnership which will enable Mycardirect customers to charge their EVs in the most cost-efficient and convenient way – at home.”

Other benefits of the Mycardirect subscription solution include a 100% online experience with easy, hassle-free access; complete flexibility – contracts range from one to 48 months, with multiple options in-between; and a wide range of vehicles.
