Mobilize and Chipside develop combined park and charge EV solutions  

Mobilize Power Solutions UK is pioneering combined EV charging and parking payment solutions for councils in partnership with Chipside.

The collaboration between Renault Group’s recently launched EV charging infrastructure and services provider and software development firm Chipside will simplify charging at public car parks for EV drivers.

It will enable drivers to pay for parking and charging on one simple app, cutting the time taken while ensuring drivers can keep clear records of the costs.

Currently, parking and charging payments are carried out separately at most car parks and some charge points request drivers give an initial swipe of their card on a reader before they walk away from the car park.

Chipside already works closely with local authorities, including with its MiPermit cashless parking system, and the new combined technology is now being trialled at a south east-based city council ahead of plans to roll out to other local authorities.

Mark Dickens, managing director of Mobilize Power Solutions, explained: “We wanted to make charging more convenient for people using public car parks and our partnership with Chipside allows us to combine reliable charging facilities with an easy payment option.”

Other developments are also in the pipeline to make parking and charging more seamless and convenient.
