Mitsubishi says no UK cars affected by incorrect fuel economy tests

By / 8 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Last month the carmaker announced that fuel consumption testing data submitted to Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism had been improperly presented in order to improve fuel consumption rates.

Mitsubishi said the discrepancies had been found after Nissan reported inconsistencies. The carmaker said it then found that tyre pressure data had been manipulated to make fuel economy appear better.

The issue affected 157,000 Mitsubishi cars sold in Japan and 468,000 vehicles produced for Nissan.

The carmaker has now said that the issue only affects vehicles sold in Japan – not the UK or Europe.

A committee has also been set up to investigate the issue in Japan and prevent a reoccurence.
