MG updates ZS EV with 273-mile Long Range model and new look

MG has upgraded its ZS EV with the addition of a new longer-range model and updated styling.

The updated ZS EV gets a new 72kWh Long Range battery pack that brings an official 273-mile WLTP range

Revamped for the 2022 model year, the updated ZS EV gets a new 72kWh Long Range battery pack that brings an official 273-mile WLTP range. It’s being sold alongside the existing model, which features a 44.5kWh battery pack and has a 163-mile range. And a 51kWh battery with a 198-mile range will join the line-up next year.

The ZS EV can be charged at up to 76kW DC rapid charging, giving a 100% charge in around 42 minutes, or 10.5 hours via a 7kW wallbox. In a further update, charging status can now be readily viewed via the four-stage indicator LEDs inside the charging port.

Alongside the new battery variant, the updated MG, which arrives in dealers in November, is also being offered in a choice of two trim levels – SE and Trophy. Both come with a new iSmart infotainment system, featuring a 10.1-inch tablet-style touchscreen, with new graphics and improved functionality. The system can be accessed via a smartphone app, enabling various car, climate, security and charging functions to be controlled remotely.

The updated model also gets a new instrument cluster, along with wireless phone charging on the Trophy model.

Styling updates bring a bespoke front-end for the electric version of MG’s compact SUV, featuring a stamped-effect grille to improve aerodynamics and a new side-opening charging port. Updates also include LED headlights and new daytime running lights, along with a redesigned rear bumper and new wheels.

The updated ZS EV is one of three plug-in models currently offered by MG in the UK, also including the 5 EV and HS Plug-in Hybrid.

Prices for the updated ZS EV will be announced in November 2021.
