DAVIS Coaching, which replaces the existing E-Learning module, is a brand-new interactive learning and development service that’s intended to create a community of better informed, engaged and ultimately safer company drivers.

The new module delivers bite-sized educational content that is interactive and easily accessible through a newly developed driver app – providing a driver-friendly method for completing digital training. Browser access to DAVIS Coaching is available as an alternative to the app.

Offered as part of the DAVIS platform, the new module is designed to provide fleet and other line managers with a clear indication of driver attitude and knowledge by rating drivers as ‘excellent’, ‘good’, ‘watch’ or ‘action’ based upon their responses and willingness to learn.

The educational coaching content is designed to be current, relevant and continually evolving, so that no two drivers get the same training at the same time, while fresh content is regularly issued to ensure drivers don’t see a repeated cycle of the same educational material.

Keith Allen, managing director at Licence Check, which is part of the Compliance Division of the Ebbon Group, said: “We firmly believe that short bursts of relevant educational content are much more effective in improving information retention and encouraging willingness to learn amongst drivers, compared with a more traditional annual assessment.”

The fully customisable format means businesses can control the frequency and timing of the training and weight the content according to the vehicle type they are driving, including cars, vans, buses or HGVs.

Client cans integrate telematics data so that drivers receive responsive content based on real driving behaviour, such as issues with idling, speeding or fuel efficiency.

Keith Allen, MD at Licence Check, said DAVIS Coaching is “highly effective at improving driver attitude and behaviour”

Fleet managers will also have the option to integrate licence check results when subscribing to the licence checking module, enabling the platform to trigger relevant content where new endorsements have appeared on their driver record, such as speed awareness and distracted driving.

Drivers meanwhile have access to their individual coaching scores, while the ‘glove box’ feature gives access to important company documents, such as fleet and driving policy, and contact numbers.

The new Driver app will be able to integrate with Licence Check’s analytical fleet management solution, DAVIS Fleet, giving provide drivers relevant vehicle information to manage their own vehicle.

The new module could help clients reduce insurance premiums by demonstrating proactivity in minimising occupational road risk.

Keith Allen added: “DAVIS Coaching delivers meaningful and relevant content to enable continuous learning for drivers, which we believe is far more effective at improving driver attitude and behaviour and addressing an employer’s duty of care.”
