Lexus offers free security upgrade with Tracker technology
Lexus is offering free vehicle tracking solutions for older vehicles in partnership with Tracker.
The Tracker S7 devices will be supplied and fitted free of charge on applicable vehicles
Delivering a security upgrade, the Tracker S7 devices will be supplied and fitted free of charge on applicable vehicles, complete with a three-year subscription.
In the event of the vehicle being stolen, the tracking solution will be activated, significantly increasing the chances of the car being recovered and returned to its owner; Tracker has a 95% success rate in recovering stolen vehicles fitted with its devices.
Customers can also download the Tracker smartphone app, providing a host of extra features. These include a geofence alert that automatically warns the owner if their vehicle is detected travelling beyond pre-set locations.
Customers can contact their local Lexus dealer to see if their vehicle qualifies for fitment or will be informed of the option when their vehicle is undergoing service, maintenance or repair.
All suitable cars on the Lexus Approved Used programme will also get the security upgrade with the Tracker technology.
The Tracker partnership doesn’t apply to latest Lexus models, which feature advanced built-in security measures as standard.
The initiative will help tackle a rise in organised criminal gangs stealing cars to order, often shipping them abroad or dismantling them for their valuable parts.
In 2022, the Lexus RX 450h became the first hybrid vehicle to enter Tracker’s most stolen and recovered cars league table, later moving up to second position as car thieves turn their focus to fully electric cars and hybrids in line with changing new car market dynamics.
Chris Hayes, director of Lexus in the UK, said: “With increasingly sophisticated methods being used by criminals, it is essential we give our customers peace of mind that their vehicle is well-protected. Through our partnership with Tracker we are providing excellent additional security using the latest technology from a company that has a fantastic record in combating car crime.”
