Kildare will lead the organisation, which has around 85,000 members, as it embarks on a new five-year strategic plan.

The road safety charity announced late 2021 that Greenidge was to step down after four years at IAM, in line with plans for a new phase of growth.

Stuart Donald, IAM RoadSmart’s chairman, said: “I am delighted to appoint Tony as interim CEO of IAM RoadSmart. He will bring strong leadership and a wealth of experience to drive forward over the coming months, while helping to safeguard the future of our charity and, moving forward, our work with our group volunteers and members on a number of UK-wide road safety initiatives.”

Antony Kildare commented: “I’m both delighted and privileged to be join IAM RoadSmart. The recent work that everyone at IAM RoadSmart has delivered puts us in a great position to progress further and improve our offer to our current and future membership, while making UK roads safer for us all.

“I look forward to getting to know the team and working with them to deliver the charity’s ambitious strategy, as well as getting out to meet our volunteers and Groups and understand their views around road safety in the future.”
