Honda to introduce Civic saloon in UK

Honda is launching its four-door Civic to the UK from this summer as it looks to target buyers with the saloon’s “unrivalled” space and practicality.

The Civic Saloon arrives in dealers in August.

Arriving some seven years since the Civic saloon was last sold in the UK, the latest model is wider, longer and lower than its predecessors and with a lower driving position and more sporty looks. As with its hatchback sibling, it also offers increased interior space compared to its forebear – said to be class leading.

Built in Turkey – in contrast to the British-built hatchback – the saloon will be offered with the 1.0 i-VTEC available on the Civic hatchback since launch and also gets the 1.6 i-DTEC diesel powertrain that launched earlier this year in the hatchback. This will come with the same manual transmission or a new nine-speed automatic.

Phil Webb, head of car at Honda UK, commented: “The Civic is a core model for Honda in Europe and has been at the heart of the brand’s strong sales and manufacturing heritage, with the hatchback built in Swindon. The arrival of the saloon to the UK market compliments the Civic family and will be a great addition to our showrooms alongside what is already a very successful range for Honda.”

Details on pricing, specification, grades and fuel efficiency will be announced closer to the launch.
