Former Tantalum CEO to drive global expansion at Oxbotica

Ozgur Tohumcu has joined autonomous vehicle software firm Oxbotica as its new chief executive officer as the business pushes ahead with global expansion.

As well as working with Addison Lee, Oxbotica leads the government-backed Driven consortium and operates its own fleet of autonomous vehicles in London and Oxford

Tohumcu succeeds Dr Graeme Smith, who moves internally to the position of SVP of external affairs, and brings more than 20 years’ experience managing the development and implementation of software solutions within the automotive, smart mobility, telecoms and digital industries, including his former role at Tantalum.

His appointment at Oxbotica follows a number of other key announcements, including the completion of a £14m funding round in September 2018 and a strategic partnership with Addison Lee to collaborate on the deployment of autonomous vehicle services.

Commenting on his new role, Tohumcu said: “Many industries are primed for autonomy and Oxbotica has a world-changing vision and game-changing software. I’m looking forward to leading the fantastic Oxbotica team through the next stage of their global expansion journey.”
