Fiat to revive Scudo and Ulysse names for new LCV and MPV

Fiat is to revive the former Scudo and Ulysse names for a new family of LCVs and MPVs.

Both models will be available with diesel engines and as fully electric versions

Imminently going into production, the new models will be available either as fully electric vehicles or with diesel engines.

Both are based on the EMP2 platform, used for a number of passenger cars across the Stellantis brands as well as the Peugeot Expert, Citroën Dispatch, Vauxhall/Opel Vivaro and Toyota Proace vans.

The Scudo van will replace Fiat Professional’s current Renault Trafic-based Talento model range and will be available as a van, combo and platform cab. It resurrects the Scudo badge, used for Fiat’s former commercial vehicle made from 1996 to 2016 as a result of the 1978 joint venture between the then-Fiat and PSA Group

The new passenger-carrying version will target large families and the recreational vehicles market, as well as chauffeured transportation and professionals; Fiat previously built its Ulysse MPV between 1994 and 2002.

As well as supporting drivers and businesses with plans to go zero-emission, the new models will also support Stellantis’ work here. By 2030, the group’s low-emission vehicles are expected to make up more than 70% of sales in Europe and more than 40% in the US, with investment of more than €30bn (£25.3bn) by 2025.

Orders for the Fiat Professional Scudo will open at the end of this year, while the Fiat Ulysse will be available by the first quarter of 2022.
