BMW flew 120 UK-based dealers to the complex, which includes the group’s head office – housed in the “Four-Cylinder” building – as well as one of the German manufacturing plants, BMW World (Welt) and the manufacturer’s museum.

BCA used online technology to stage a 350-car sale at the facility, including the UK auction debut of the new 6 Series convertible models and BCA Live Online was used to take the bids from the buyers in Munich in real-time.

Every vehicle sold for a 100% sale success that generated a turnover of £9.5m and an average selling value in excess of £27,100.

BMW Group UK’s general manager of used cars, Matt Bristow, commented: ‘This was a remarkable sale and our dealers had a great opportunity to sample the BMW experience at its spiritual home and buy prime stock direct from BMW as they did so. The result was exceptional with every vehicle sold for a significant multi-million pound turnover.’

BCA national account manager, Simon Young, added: ‘This successful event underlines the desirability of the BMW brand, making it the benchmark for others to aspire to in the premium used vehicle sector. This sale demonstrated just how flexible and capable the BCA Live Online technology is, as cars in the UK were offered in real time to the BMW dealers in Munich.’
