Effective from today, the price drop brings unleaded and diesel prices to 118.7ppl and 119.7ppl respectively at Asda’s 316 filling stations.

The price cut comes a day after the RAC urged the supermarket retailers to slash fuel prices in the wake of a $5 fall in the price of a barrel of oil.

RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams said: “This should spark a chain reaction with the other supermarkets and fuel retailers across the country.

“After three months of petrol and diesel going up it’s a relief to see prices at the pumps finally coming down again just in time for half-term when more people will be taking to the roads.”
