DriverCheck has appointed Andy Smith as head of sales, completing its new senior management team.

The arrival of Andy Smith as head of sales completes DriverCheck’s new senior management team

Smith will report into group CEOs Robert Pilkington and Craig Gibbin at parent company Ebbon Group, which specialises in automotive technology solutions.

His appointment is the latest in a series of new recruits at DriverCheck, which is now being led by recently appointed head of operations Yvette Giannini, who heads up everything bar new business sales.

The Glasgow-based licence checking and compliance business has also promoted Sinead Moy to operations manager while Christina Telford will head up the financial side of the business.

Andy Smith, who has with the group for six years, said he was “looking forward enormously to the new challenge”.

“I’m very excited by the new role and believe there is huge potential within DriverCheck. I’ll continue to be based from my home office near Birmingham in the Midlands but will obviously be spending more time in Glasgow and out on the road meeting clients.

“Being based in the centre of the country is actually an ideal location because our clients are nationwide and I’m looking forward to meeting and getting to know as many as possible,” he commented.

DriverCheck sits alongside sister company Licence Check to make up Ebbon Compliance, the group’s driving licence checking and vehicle compliance business which runs a combined 1.6 million licence checks per annum. The group also includes its Ebbon Automotive and Ebbon Intelligence division.

DriverCheck currently has 1,200 customers on its books, covering more than 300,000 drivers, and provides managed services to corporate clients, including licence checking and grey fleet services.

“We are delighted to announce Andy Smith as the new head of sales at our DriverCheck business. His promotion is the last piece in the jigsaw at DriverCheck, which will allow us to continue to expand and develop the business in our chosen areas,” said Robert Pilkington.

Other changes at DriverCheck include new, larger offices and group investment in a complete technology update and refresh.
