So says by vehicle-to-business technology provider In-Car Cleverness which reckons that over 76,000 car incidents involving fleet drivers this year will result in arguments over whose fault it is.

Part of the Automotive & Insurance Solutions (AIS) Group of companies, the firm has revealed research showing that more than 850,000 company vehicle drivers have been involved in an accident so far this year. And, of those, 8% – representing 76,545 incidents across the UK – result in potentially costly liability disputes.

The In-Car Cleverness system features an advanced Remote Accident Forensics / Reconstruction System that recreates the crash and can remove the question of liability for insurers in more than 75% of cases.

The technology marries complex accident algorithms with data taken before, during and after the incident from the vehicle. Within minutes, it recreates the crash to provide insurance investigators with an accurate snapshot of the circumstances.

In-Car Cleverness commercial director Tim Eaves said: ‘As a result, in all bar the most complicated cases involving multiple-vehicles, the technology is able to demonstrate where the blame lies. In addition to the time saved in dealing with disputes, it can have a positive impact on insurance premiums.’
