The innovative Schneider Electric EVlink charger has been fitted at ALD Automotive’s operating centre in Bristol, where it is being used to enable ALD staff access to free charging. This follows the company’s ongoing evaluation of EV, looking into the potential benefits customers can gain from such technology.

Jerry Clist, maintenance controller at ALD Automotive, said: 'We are witnessing a growing demand for quotes for electric vehicles and to help gain a better insight into all the issues with EV’s we wanted to have a charging service on site as part of this evaluation. The Schneider Electric charger is fast, convenient and extremely easy to use and will come as a great benefit for EV customers looking to run their business more efficiently.'

David Greaves, national business development manager for EV at Schneider Electric, said: 'As fuel prices continue to soar, the cost benefits of EV adoption can be huge. To put it into context, less than £2 of electric can power an electric vehicle for over 100 miles, so the payback period is rapid.

'With this in mind, we have developed our charging stations to enable electric vehicle owners to easily and safely charge their vehicles, helping to significantly reduce their carbon footprint while, in turn, achieve massive savings.

'As a business committed to pushing boundaries in EV adoption, this is just one of a number of charging installation projects we are working on, as we continue to lead the way in the development of the UK’s EV charging infrastructure.'
